As one of Saturday Night Live’s newest featured players, Veronika Slowikowska is bringing her very specific brand of online humor to network TV. She remains so committed to every bit that you forget you’re watching a bit at all. It’s the kind of energy that turns a two-minute sketch into something your group chat is quoting by Sunday morning—and she’s already had a lot of those moments.
You’ve definitely seen her as one of the many women inexplicably in love with Domingo (a rotating character universe that somehow keeps getting funnier) or as that super nonspecific Gen Alpha boy with a sweet tooth for Airheads from the Snack Homiez podcast. She’s also played an intense Chili’s waitress opposite Jack Black and a singing washer-dryer duo with Sabrina Carpenter, which sounds fake until you watch it and realize, no, this is actually genius. Veronika has a way of taking a premise that shouldn’t work and making it instantly iconic.
What makes her stand out is that there’s intention behind every seemingly random stunt. She knows exactly how far to push a character, when to make it weird, and when to ground it just enough that you’re like, Wait, why do I relate to this? It feels both classic comedy and a little bit brain rot—a tricky balance, but she makes it look easy.
When she’s not lighting up 30 Rock, you can catch Veronika as Kelly on Netflix’s Tires or as Shanice in FX’s What We Do in the Shadows on Hulu, bringing that same laugh-out-loud energy to the scripted space. So obviously, we had to throw her into the Cosmo Quiz.
